IHG signs franchise deal with two Staybridge Suites hotels in Dubai

Leading hotel chain Intercontinental Hotel Group (IHG) has agreed a franchise deal with SRG Holding for Staybridge Suites Dubai Financial Centre and Staybridge Suites Dubai Internet City.
The agreements will see the conversion of two SRG-owned developments to IHG’s brand Staybridge Suites and the two franchised assets will be operated by SRG Hospitality.
The conversion’s, which are set to be completed in January 2020 to co-incide with the Dubai Expo, will be located on Sheikh Zayed Road and aim to cater to the “varied needs” of travellers visiting the city.
The 360-key Staybridge Suites Dubai Financial Centre offers guests the choice between one, two and three-bedroom suites, as well as studio apartments.
The 225-key Staybridge Suites Dubai Internet City features one and two-bedroom apartments and studios. The majority of the studios and apartments will include their own private balconies.
IHG’s managing director for India, Middle East and Africa, Pascal Gauvin, said the company was confident that the Staybridge Suites Dubai Financial Centre and Staybridge Suites Dubai Internet City will be resounding successes.
“The extended-stay sector performs extremely well in Dubai and the Middle East and the Staybridge Suites brand is successful due to its combination of home-like convenience and comfort,” said Gauvin.
Also commenting on the franchise deal, SRG’s CEO, Fahad AlRafi, believed IHG would give the firm the opportunity to deliver a service style that is little more relaxed than traditional serviced apartments in the city.
IHG recently debuted its brand voco in the Middle East with the opening of voco Dubai.
IHG currently operates 91 hotels across 5 brands in the Middle East, with a further 37 in the development pipeline due to open within the next three to five years.
