MidEast travellers flock to the shops on holiday
Value Retail reports 30 percent growth in Middle East visitors
Middle East holiday makers are being wooed by the bargain luxuries found at European designer outlet malls while on holiday.
Value Retail, which operates nine 'Chic Outlet Shopping Villages' in destinations across Europe offering luxury designer goods at discounted prices has reported a massive thirty percent increase in Middle Eastern visitors in the first quarter of this year and is targeting a 52 percent increase by the end of the year.
“Shopping is a way of life in the Middle East, and what’s interesting is noticing how different the shopping experience is in Europe compared to the retail experience here. We hope that is what's endearing ourselves to our Middle Eastern customers,” said Sally Beames, director, Marketing, PR and Tourism, Value Retail Management.
Chic Outlet Shopping Villages offer genuine designer merchandise from previous collections reduced by up to 60 percent. The villages, in Barcelona, Brussels, Antwerp, Cologne, Dublin, Frankfurt, London, Madrid, Munich and Paris are all strategically placed near ‘must-see’ tourist attractions.
“The locations in Europe are chosen in very interesting strategic areas where people can combine shopping with culture, shopping with sightseeing, shopping with spa, shopping with food, shopping with a children’s activity such as Disney land Paris,” explained Beams.
In addition to savings 60 percent on designer goods, visitors from the Middle East are also eligible to also claim back VAT leading to “quite compelling,” savings she added.
To leverage on the phenomenal interest in shopping among holidaymakers in the Middle East, Value Retail is working closely with travel agents across the region, offering attractive commission rates on packages to Chic Outlet Shopping villages around Europe.
