Atlantis reveals replacement for GM
Serge Zaalof appointed chief operating officer for Kerzner
Operation of Atlantis, The Palm will be taken over by industry veteran Serge Zaalof following the sudden departure of previous GM Amadeo Zarzosa, reported exclusively by HotelierMiddleEast.com last week.
Serge Zaalof has been appointed chief operating officer for Kerzner International and will be based in Dubai, reporting to president and managing director of Kerzner Alan Leibman.
Zaalof has taken up the role following an extensive career in the regional hotel industry, most recently as chief executive of wasl Hospitality, the owner and operator of seven hotels in Dubai.
Prior to that, he spent 10 years with the Jumeirah Group including roles as Jumeriah Beach Hotel GM, pre-opening GM of Madinat Jumeirah and senior vice president overseeing the company’s development in the Asia Pacific region.
Zaalof also has earlier experience with Hilton International in the UK and US and with Hyatt International in the Caribbean and UK.
Commenting on his appointment, Zaalof said: “Atlantis, The Palm is the newest icon in Dubai and I am thrilled to join the team.
“I look forward to continuing to develop the Atlantis experience through excellence and innovation. Kerzner is perhaps the most exciting resort-oriented hospitality company in the world with exciting growth prospects. I couldn’t be more excited to join Alan and his great team.”
A French national, Zaalof graduated from Lycee Maurice Ravel, College Harriet Baita and ETC Hilton International Basel in Switzerland.
Atlantis has yet to comment on the reasons for Zarzosa’s departure for the hotel, although it is believed that he left the role voluntarily.
