The awards were chosen from a pool of 212 nominations, with the judging process including mystery visits and spa audits.

Tareta added that that out of the 67 Hyatt Pure spas in operation worldwide, 23 were in the Asia-Pacific region with three more slated to open in 2009.

“There are more than 20 spa projects in the pipeline for the Asia Pacific region,” he said.

Hyatt Pure spas are only featured in properties that meet a list of criteria including components such as employee training programmes, operating concept, menu offerings, physical attributes, physical quality, day-to-day maintenance procedures, service delivery, brand compliance, product quality, and marketing standards.

Of the new-build spas to be opened at Hyatt hotels worldwide in 2009, all will be developed and operated under the Hyatt Pure brand.

In the Middle East, this includes the recently-opened Grand Hyatt Doha along with Park Hyatt Jeddah in Saudi Arabia and Hyatt Regency Abu Dhabi, both due to open in Q3 2009.
