Mandarin Oriental, Marrakech has designed a new luxury accommodation package for guests wanting to learn more about the traditions and culture of the Berber people.

Guests booking the five-star resort’s Berber Experience offer will discover the Red City, find out about Moroccan culture from local residents and stay in a private villa or suite architecturally inspired by traditional local riad designs.

As part of the Berber Experience package guests will have an opportunity to explore Atlas Mountains villages, where they will be served lunch in a local resident’s home and learn first-hand about the lifestyle and culture of the Berber.

Also included in the package is a guided biking tour of either the Palmeraie oasis or the Red City’s medina. Surrounding souks are filled with shaded passageways lined with shops selling handicrafts and antiques. Other sights include the city’s historic palaces, gardens and Koutoubia mosque, which has an ancient Minbar (pulpit).
