Tackling the challenges of a rapidly-evolving industry through executive certificate programmes
With increasingly rapid developments, the hospitality industry today faces an equally quickly developing audience. Globally, the inundation of information that consumers have access to has greatly shaped their patterns in seeking and choosing services. Hoteliers find themselves in an increasingly competitive environment as more and more hotels open around them daily, with new offers, forcing existing operators to step-up. It has become vital for the survival of all hotels and restaurants for their teams to adopt an attitude of lifelong learning.
To help hoteliers and restaurateurs with this, Dubai’s The Emirates Academy of Hospitality Management (EAHM), located opposite the Burj Al Arab and Jumeirah Beach Hotel, is offering Executive Certificate Programmes to the industry. The programmes are aimed at hospitality managers and executives and provide learning opportunities that enable them to carry out their roles more effectively, as well as gear them up for future development opportunities.
The course is made up of a number of modules with each one specialising in a particular area of hospitality management. Topics include business strategy, data analytics, human resources, finance, innovation and entrepreneurship, and service management.
The course has been designed with the help of expertise from 60 senior hospitality executives, each sharing their knowledge and consulting at every stage to ensure the programme delivers the learning, skills and abilities the regional industry needs and that which will bring its hospitality industry on par with some of the best around the world.
Judy Hou, the managing director at The Emirates Academy of Hospitality Management, says: “Our Executive Certificate programmes are designed to address the needs of the businesses and working professionals.
“With the rapid changes and innovation the hospitality, travel and tourism sector has witnessed over the recent years, it is ever more important for leaders to equip themselves with the knowledge and competencies to take on the continuously evolving industry.”
The courses are designed to run over four consecutive weeks, with classes scheduled across three days a week. Courses start in September, January and April each year.
The Emirates Academy of Hospitality Management was established in 2001. The Dubai-based school specialises in providing business management degrees that are specifically designed for the hospitality industry. As part of the Jumeirah Group, its students gain first-hand experience through internships at its numerous hotels around the emirate. Academically, EAHM is in association with Ecole hôtelière de Lausanne, one of the oldest and most respected hospitality schools in the world.
