Hotelier Express explores outdoor furnishings and ‘shade architecture’, compelling reasons for venturing outdoors
SNS HAUTE COUTURE FURNITURE
Its line of US-produced cushion fabrics are sourced from Sunbrella and Twitchell, with quality that has proven suitable for harsh Middle East and tropical weather conditions.
SNS Haute Couture is a producer of outdoor and indoor furniture with a global presence and offices in Europe, USA, Asia as well as Dubai, where the company has moved its main office in anticipation of the rapid growth of resort properties in Asia and the Middle East. The company utilises high grade powder-coated aluminum, from long-term suppliers. All joints and ends are made of stainless steel with special anti-rust coating. Because cushion fabrics play an essential role in beautifying outdoor areas, SNS uses Sunbrella solution dyed acrylic fabrics and textilene fabrics from Twitchell. Both fabrics are produced in the US, with quality that has proven suitable for harsh Middle East and tropical weather conditions. All producers, Rehau, Sunbrella and Twitchell, offer a five-year warranty on colour fastness and UV degradation. In the same way, SNS’ final products also offer a five-year warranty.
‘EQUINOX’ CABANA BY TUUCI
Completely customisable, the cabana transforms any hotel terrace, poolside, or garden into an open-air living room, fitted with LED lights, sockets, Bluetooth speakers and USB ports
Born in a boat yard in South Florida in 1998, Tuuci is a manufacturer of marine-grade shade equipment available around the world. Founded by Miami native Dougan Clarke, the company produces handcrafted, high-performance shade products in its manufacturing campus in Miami. With a background in marine fabrication, chief product architect Clarke also leverages his skills as a craftsman from the yachting industry. From minimalistic parasols to classic pavilions, colourful outdoor lounges and exotic cabanas, these shade products, formerly known simply as ‘umbrellas’ have now been described as ‘shade architecture’.
The company’s latest innovation is the ‘Equinox’ cabana which transforms any hotel terrace, poolside, or garden into an open-air living room. Used as a pavilion, with seating or daybed, it is completely customisable. Next to providing protection from the sun, the cabana offers technical refinements such as integrated Bluetooth speakers, heaters and LED spotlights. The walls and roof can be fitted with translucent trellis or covered with a weather-resistant fabric. The cabana is available in multiple finishes, such as anodised satin, six powder coated colours (textured bright white, hammered bronze, espresso, sea shell white, ash grey or jet black) and four wood coatings. The inside of the square or rectangle-shaped cabana is optionally furnished with a classic sofa, an L-bench, or a fully-upholstered daybed. All the materials are characterised by quality, water resistance and colourfastness. LED lights, sockets, Bluetooth speakers and USB ports provide additional functionality.
