Shangri-La Hotel Abu Dhabi launches lunch buffet

The summer lunch buffet will service traditional Chinese, authentic Vietnamese, French, and other international cuisines

Shangri-La Hotel Qaryat Al Beri Abu Dhabi has launched a lunch offer at Sofra Bld, its all-day dining restaurant.

Available until September 16, the buffet features signature dishes from the chefs de cuisine leading each of the restaurants at the property – Sofra Bld, Hoi An, Shang Palace, Bord Eau, and the Lobby Lounge. 

Executive chef Reiner Lupfer said: “The idea behind this special summer spread at Sofra Bld is to celebrate cuisines from around the world.  It is also a celebration of the calibre of the dining offerings at Shangri-La as well as the team spirit in our kitchen.”

Chef Dillu Stephen from Sofra’s culinary team has created a selection of international dishes with options that include blow-torched yellow-fin tuna nigiri, spicy salmon and avocado sushi cone, classic tandoor chicken leg, lamb and prune tagine, and oriental appetisers.

For a taste of authentic Vietnamese cuisine, chef Vu Dang brings his signature recipes from the Hoi An menu, including favourites like crunchy green papaya salad with prawns, rice paper vegetable spring rolls, and grilled lemongrass chicken.

Chef He Jia, who hails from Nanjing, leads the kitchen at Shang Palace with a focus on the Huaiyang tradition of Chinese cuisine. From this station, guests can enjoy steamed crystal vegetable Dim sum, scallop siew mai, Hong Kong soya chicken, and hand-pulled noodles served in superior broth.

From the French restaurant Bord Eau, chef Jimmy De Almeida brings classics such as slow-roasted salmon, duck à l'orange, and the pan-seared beef tenderloin with Morel mushrooms.

Chef Muhamad Jejen, executive pastry chef at Shangri-La Hotel Qaryat Al Beri, takes over the sweets on behalf of the Lobby Lounge. Desserts comprise caramelised freshly baked apple tarts with vanilla ice-cream, mango soup with sago and pomelo, Macau egg tarts, and his signature cheesecake topped with seasonal berries.

Priced at AED165, the summer lunch buffet is available from Sunday through to Thursday from noon until 3pm. 

The Friday Sofra Bld summer lunch buffet from 1pm until 4pm is priced at AED285 (soft beverages), AED365 (standard alcohol package), and AED495 (champagne package) – inclusive of beach and pool access.
