Ryohin Keikaku Co. will open a Muji Hotel in spring 2019 in Tokyo’s Ginza district, according to a report in The Japan Times. It also plans on opening hotels in Shenzhen, China.

The property will be located in a multi-storey megastore with a total floor space of 3,300m2 and the hotel will take up the top floors of the store’s building. Muji’s hotel in Japan will take up the 6th to 10th floors of the building, with retail on the other floors, according to a press release.

The 70-key hotel is being jointly built by real estate developer Mitsui Fudosan and Japanese publishing house Yomiuri Shimbun. Ryohin Keikaku, operator of the Muji chain, will supervise designs for the guest rooms and other areas to create a space "where customers can thoroughly experience Muji product lineups".

Hotel guests will be able to buy furniture, decor and other goods they see and like.

Muji Hotel Shenzhen will open around the end of 2017.
