Sheraton Cairo re-opens after extensive refurb
Sheraton Cairo was the brand's first hotel in Africa when it first opened in 1971
Sheraton Cairo Hotel & Casino, a city landmark for more than four decades, has re-opened after undergoing an extensive renovation.
"Sheraton Cairo was our first Sheraton hotel in Africa and has been a local icon since it’s opening in 1971," said Marriott International president and managing director Middle East and Africa Alex Kyriakidis.
Located on the West Bank of the River Nile, the hotel is steps away from the Egyptian Museum, Cairo Opera House and the 70-storey Cairo Tower. The hotel’s 326 renovated rooms and suites highlight the Sheraton 'Signature Sleep Experience'.
Sheraton Club rooms offer access to the Sheraton Club Lounge, a private space located on the 26th floor providing city views, where guests can enjoy complimentary breakfast, drinks and snacks during the day. Leisure facilities include a 24-hour fitness centre for in-house guests, a swimming pool and a wellness centre.
The hotel's six food and beverage outlets include El Mawardia Depuis 1985, regarded as a social institution on the west side of the Nile for over 30 years, which showcases local cuisine paired with international favorites complemented by an assortment of coffees, teas, beverages as well as shisha flavors; Giannini’s, the first New York Italian style restaurant in Egypt; Rawi, which features local ingredients and regional Arabic cuisine for breakfast, lunch and dinner; the Bridge Café for fresh coffee, pastries and savouries; the Pool Bar with its mix-and-match menu; and Studio70 for music and classic cocktails.
Offering more than 1,400 square metres of meeting space, Sheraton Cairo Hotel & Casino features a ballroom, 13 meeting rooms and a fully equipped business centre, all with high-speed Wi-Fi.
Marriott International currently operates 18 hotels in Egypt across seven brands including JW Marriott, The Ritz Carlton, Le Méridien, Marriott Hotels, Renaissance, Sheraton and Westin. It also has two additional hotels under advanced development including Mena House and The St. Regis Cairo.
