Michelin-starred restaurant opens in Deira

Taiwanese eatery, Din Tai Fung, has opened at the Al Ghurair Centre

Founded in Taiwan in 1972, Din Tai Fung has over 100 branches in East Asia, the US and the UK including a one Michelin-starred restaurant in Hong Kong.

Celebrated as one of the “Top Ten Restaurants in the World” by the New York Times, the Asian chain has opened its second outlet in the UAE at the Al Ghurair Centre’s new dining district, located on the ground floor. Central to its appeal is the open kitchen concept, where diners can see the dumplings being made.

Al Ghurair Properties CEO Sultan Al Ghurair said in a statement: “We are very excited to be accommodating this very distinctive and popular eatery in our new dining district, and to offer authentic Taiwanese cuisine to our visitors. Residents and tourists from all over the world visit our shopping Centre, therefore it is very important for us to offer a wide range of dining options to cater to a wide variety of tastes. Din Tai Fung’s signature dish is Xiao Long Bao, the Shanghai-style soup dumplings. The menu also features shrimp and chicken wontons with spicy Szechuan sauce, shrimp fried rice and sautéed string beans with garlic.

More than 117 employees have been hired to staff the restaurant which has been designed by Beverly Hills-based architect-designer Anthony Poon.
