Fernando Gibaja.

Hailing from Spain, Fernando Gibaja has been at the helm of Jumeirah Zabeel Saray for little over two years now.

In the video interview, Gibaja talks about how his initial plans of becoming an engineer were transformed, when one summer he worked in a restaurant and bar.

Gibaja is passionate about the hospitality industry and sheds light on the key ingredients and the core roots that are required to succeed in hospitality.

He shares his experience of working alongside a few associates, who have been stewards and captains for over 40 years. “You can understand the true meaning of the service industry when you talk to people like these, I have had that pleasure of working alongside some of them,” Gibaja said.

The Real Madrid loyalist is also extremely fond of his associates and colleagues at the hotel. “I go on my rounds in the morning, and that’s my favourite part of the day. I love seeing them because, at the end of the day, they are the ones serving the guests.”
