R Hotels has raised AED 77,000 (US $20,968) for staff who were affected by the recent earthquake in Nepal.

Four properties from the group – Ramada Hotel and Suites Ajman, Ramada Beach Hotel Ajman, Ramada Downtown Dubai, and Hawthorn Suites by Wyndham – raised funds from management and associates at the properties.

The money will be distributed among Nepali associates based on their estimated loss after the earthquake to help their families rebuild their homes.

Ramada Hotel and Suites Ajman and Ramada Beach Hotel Ajman general manager Iftikhar Hamdani, who led the initiative, said: “All the hotels have been actively involved in CSR activities over the years. Most of all, we look after the welfare of our staff thus, we are quick to act on situations like this when some of them are directly affected.

"We hope that we are able to provide financial assistance and help them in one way or another in getting back on their feet after the sad tragedy.”

R Hotels managing director Sumair Tariq added: “On behalf of R Hotels, I would like to commend the management and staff of the properties for their kind act and showing compassion for their colleagues. We are proud to be a socially responsible organisation and we aim to carry out more philanthropic activities in the future.”
