Dubai to host over 4.5 million Saudis during DSF
Close proximity and a wide range of entertainment options to attract high number of Saudis to 20th Dubai Shopping Festival
More than 4.5 million Saudi tourists are expected to vit Dubai in the first quarter of 2015, particularly during the Dubai Shopping Festival, which will be helf from January 1 - February 1, 2015.
The annual event, now in its 20th year, will host a variety of entertainment programmes alongside shopping discounts and sales. Travellers from around the world plan their holidays to Dubai to coincide with DSF, and make most of price cut downs. Organisers shared with Saudi Gazette that they are expecting 4.5 million tourists from Saudi Arabia alone.
The influx of Saudis will contribute to the tourism sector; however, there has been a decline in spending by visitors from Saudi Arabia, commented International Council of Shopping Centres CEO David Macadam.
Many young Saudis choose Jumeirah, the Palm, Marina and Downtown as their preferred choice of stay as opposed to when traveling with families. The latter prefer to stay in Bur Dubai or Deira closer to shopping destinations like Dubai Mall, downtown, and the airport.
“I prefer this side of town. All I want to do is go watch movies, my wife and kids want to go to Dubai Mall and I prefer it as a family man. It is close to what we want and even the airport,” said 38 year old Saudi, Mahmoud Mohammad.
