Second Radisson Blu hotel to open in Cairo in 2016
New 300-room property in Nasr City area will be owned by Genena Group
Carlson Rezidor is to open a second property under the Radisson Blu brand in Cairo in 2016, with a 300-room hotel owned by Genena Group.
Scheduled to open in the first quarter of 2016, the Radisson Blu Hotel, Cairo Nasr City will be a new property built adjacent to Genena Mall, which is under the same ownership.
The hotel will have a an all-day-dining restaurant, lounge bar, fitness area, spa, roof top swimming pool with sky bar and a meetings and events area featuring a ballroom.
“We are delighted to further strengthen our presence in the key market of Cairo,” said Rezidor president & CEO Wolfgang M. Neumann.
“Egypt has recovered from the turmoil of the past years and opens new, exciting business opportunities. We want to support this emerging country and its travel and tourism sector together with our partners in the region.”
The deal for the new hotel means Rezidor now operates or is developing seven hotels, with more than 2,800 rooms.
Rezidor already operates the 427-key Radisson Blu Hotel, Cairo Heliopolis in the Egyptian capital.
The continuing recovery of the Egyptian hotel market was recently demonstrated by the latest data from STR Global, which showed that occupancy levels almost doubled to 55.3% in October, compared to the same month in 2013.
