Nordic Light Hotel has a 'social network as currency' promotion for Instagram too

A hotel in Stockholm, Sweden, is offering guests free stays if they have more than 2000 Facebook friends, as part of a promotion to use social networks as currency.

Nordic Light Hotel is offering seven free nights per year as long as the guest shares a post when making the reservation, at check-in and at check-out, mentioning its website. Guests also need to like the hotel on Facebook and tag that they are there at check-in and check-out.

Meanwhile, Instagram users with 100,000 followers or more can also qualify for the free nights, as long as they share a post when making the reservation, one at check-in and one at check-out, using #nordiclighthotel in their posts and tagging Nordic Light Hotel.

In addition to the free stays, which are availale for a "number of rooms" at the hotel, the ‘social network as currency’ promotion offers a number of other discounts:


100,000 followers or more = 100% discount
15,000 followers or more = 15% discount
10,000 followers or more = 10% discount
5000 followers or more = 5% discount


100,000 fans or more = 100% discount
2000 private friends or more = 100% discount
1500 private friends or more = 15% discount
1000 private friends or more = 10% discount
500 private friends or more = 5% discount

On its website, the hotel points out that guests will be charged the full price of the stay if they do not the meet the requirements in terms of follower/friend numbers and posting guidelines.

The discounts do not apply to products from the mini bar or restaurant and guests must be 18 or older to stay at the hotel.
