JW Marriott to open Venice private island resort
266-room JW Marriott Venice Resort & Spa will open in March 2015
Marriott International is to debut its JW Marriott Hotels & Resorts brand in Italy with a 266-room private island resort in Venice.
Set to open in March 2015 on Isola delle Rose (Rose Island), JW Marriott Venice Resort & Spa will have views of St Mark’s Square and La Serenissima and has been created in collaboration with Italian architect firm Matteo Thun & Partners.
"The opening of our first property in Italy marks a time of great growth and development for the JW Marriott brand," said JW Marriott Hotels & Resorts vice president and global brand manager Mitzi Gaskins.
"The new JW Marriott Venice Resort & Spa exemplifies the elegance and service that our guests have come to expect, incorporating modern design elements with authentic Venetian offerings to create a truly genuine experience in a culturally rich market."
Among the features of the resort will be a 1750-square metre spa, operated by GOCO Hospitality, which will be the largest in Venice, according to Marriott International.
Other facilities will include a kid’s club and dedicated family pool, water sports such as canoeing and sailing, and a rooftop pool offering views across the lagoon to St. Mark’s Square.
Guests will also be able to explore 16 acres of garden and outdoor areas, including olive groves and cultivated plots, which will provide produce for some of the resort’s four restaurants and five bars, as well as its cooking school and wine academy.
Prices at JW Marriott Venice Resort & Spa will start from €395 including breakfast.
