How long have you been in hotel purchasing?
I have 20 years of experience working in the UAE with luxury international hotels in various positions, including purchasing manager, contracts manager, operations manager — supply chain & logistics, procurement director and currently I have an area role taking care of five properties in Abu Dhabi.
What products are you on the lookout for?
I take care of everything required for the hotel operations from food & beverage to FF&E as well as OS&E.
What area of your hotel are you most proud of?
I am proud of the uniqueness of the Anantara brand. It has a strong meaning that reflects our brand promise, our brand passion and our brand values. It speaks about indigenous culture, discovery and expertise. Anantara service is based on the “Nham Jai” — water from the heart — concept, reflected in our logo.
please Tell us about one of your most successful deals?
There are many to mention, but the most recent achievement was securing of a group contract for guest amenities, which has seen us make a cost saving of 40%.
What does a supplier have to do to impress you?
Suppliers must deliver on their promises in terms of quality and meeting deadlines.
What is the biggest challenge in purchasing at the moment?
It is difficult for purchasing managers in this region to have true authority over decisions. Most of these people are not even allowed to question. Instead of being instructed to just go and buy something, we should be able to question things.
