Ice cream firm opens 81 stores in 2013; wins award

Dunkin' Brands names Galadari Ice Cream Company Developer of the Year

Galadari Ice Cream Company (GICC) was awarded the 'Developer of the Year' Award 2014 from Dunkin’ Brands for achieving the highest record number for new store openings in 2013.

GICC is the master franchisee for Baskin-Robbins in the Middle East, and part of the Galadari Brothers group (GBG). It is also the joint venture partner for Baskin-Robbins in Australia.

Dunkin’ Brands chairman and CEO Nigel Travis presented the award to GBG CEO Khaled Soliman and GICC acting general manager Abdulmonem Suliman in a ceremony held in Dubai.

In one year, GICC opened 81 new stores, and has reported record sales across the Middle East such as the stores in Mall of the Emirates (Dubai) and Mirdif City Centre (Dubai).

“Dunkin’ Brands is one of our close long-term partnerships in the Group. We are proud to receive such a recognition of achievement. This is only the beginning of a new era in the Group as we are looking at next coming years envisioning exponential growth not only in the Middle East but also in Australia. We plan to hit the 1000th store over the next few years,” said Soliman.

The Group has over 750 stores across the Middle East and Australia, with close to 700 stores in the former. It is also the sole franchisor for Dunkin’ Donuts in Qatar.

It currently operates its stores across UAE, Saudi Arabia, Qatar, Bahrain, Oman, Kuwait and Australia.
