Holiday Inn Dubai - Al Barsha: construction workers gather for Iftar.

Holiday Inn Dubai – Al Barsha invited construction workers from Dubai-based charity Adopt-a-Camp to dine at its annual corporate Iftar.

The guests were welcomed by resident manager Holiday Inn Dubai – Al Barsha, Roxana Jaffer, Saher Shaikh, founder of Adopt-a- Camp and Ashraf Hamouda, head, partnership & business development of United Nations World Food Programme (WFP).

The Iftar buffet was a blend of oriental, continental and Arabic cuisine, with an array of typical Ramadan beverages. The construction workers were also given gifts and framed pictures as mementos of the evening.

Roxana Jaffer made a speech during which she expressed confidence in her team, which drives Holiday Inn Dubai’s ‘Loves You Campaign’ (HI-LUC) - an initiative which encourages every member of staff to become socially responsible.

“Ramadan is a time to indulge in acts of charity, kindness and benevolence. We took this initiative as part of our endeavour to make the world a better place for all. It takes only one dirham to provide a meal to a child for a day,” she said.

As part of its CSR initiatives the hotel donates a dollar from the revenue generated from each Iftar served at The Gem Garden restaurant, and from each room throughout the month of Ramadan.

“I am proud to say that with concerted efforts of the staff and the donations from the hotel, we have raised funds that have enabled sustenance for 200,000 mouths for a day,” Jaffer added.

The brief programme before the recitation of verses from the Quran also included an address by Hamouda, who praised the Holiday Inn Dubai - Al Barsha for its continued partnership with the WFP.

He said: “This was the best Iftar at the best hotel in Dubai that I have experienced, encouraging us all to be socially responsible”

Holiday Inn Dubai – Al Barsha is an official partner with the United Nations World Food Programme.
