Sofitel Abu Dhabi Corniche will host the Break an Egg campaign in collaboration with Abu Dhabi Art Hub to raise money for the Make-A-Wish Foundation.

The campaign will feature both a live exhibition to the public and a private auction, and will feature art work by 12 local, regional and international artists commissioned under the Abu Dhabi Art Hub to depict their interpretation of ‘The Egg’ in 12 fiber-glass replicas on behalf of the charity.

The artists will use twelve 50cm by 35cm fiber-glass eggs as their canvas to interpret the concept of eternal youth and new beginnings.

Participating artists include Emirati mosaic artists Nassim Al Majed and Azza Al Qubaisi, graphic artist Peter Ducsai, inventors of ‘shadow art sculptures’ Maysoon Masalha and Bassam Al Selawi, industrial product designer Sannaliina Kuusari , and others who will apply their own visual interpretations of the campaign’s concept in a range of mediums and techniques.

Make-A-Wish Foundation CEO Hani Al Zubaidi said: “In a world where many of these children are challenged by illness every day, the symbol of the egg stood out to us as the most profound symbol of hope. The concept of a new beginning or eternal youth is a wish we would grant many of the children we support across the UAE if we could. This exhibition is a representation of that wish brought to life by the Abu Dhabi Art Hub and we are truly grateful to all the artists involved and to Sofitel Abu Dhabi Corniche for their support in raising awareness and funding for our important work to continue.”

The exhibition opens to the public on April 17 and will be located in the hotel’s lobby. All proceeds will go to the children and families of the Make-A-Wish Foundation.
