Dubai airports selects Boingo as Wi-Fi provider
Dubai International and Dubai World Central to receive WiFi upgrade
Dubai Airports has selected DAS and Wi-Fi provider Boingo Wireless as the exclusive Wi-FI provider for Dubai International and Al Maktoum International at Dubai World Central, which opened to passenger traffic in 2011.
Boingo will manage and operate ad-supported Wi-Fi services throughout both airports, while Boingo Media, which is Boingo’s advertising and sponsorship services group, will manage Wi-Fi advertising sales and support for the airports.
Boingo will also offer premium Wi-Fi service options for travelers using data intensive programmes such as streaming video or uploading large files. Telecom operator Du will provide high-speed bandwidth for both airport networks.
Dubai Airports senior vice president commercial Eugene Barry said: “We are currently in the process of completing a large-scale network upgrade in parallel with the launch of this new service, with the primary aim of providing the fastest and most secure connectivity for all of our customers.”
Commenting on the partnership, Boingo Wireless vice president of international markets Bjorn Thorngren said: “Our partnership with Dubai Airports marks a major milestone for Boingo. The airports will be the centrepiece of Boingo’s international airport portfolio, and are key gateways for international travellers. We look forward to helping the more than 66 million travelers at Dubai airports get connected via our globally recognized, easy-to-use Wi-Fi, to supporting them via our 24-hour multilingual customer service, and to growing our service along with the Dubai airports.”
