Luxury hotelier Four Seasons turns over more than US $120mn in spa revenues worldwide, with expectations of further growth, according to the chairman of the group’s Global Spa Taskforce.

Simon Casson, also regional vice president & general manager, Four Seasons Resort Dubai, will speak at the Hotelier Middle East Spa and Wellness Summit, being held in Dubai on February 10-11, about the future of the spa industry, where he is expected to reveal insights to the group’s burgeoning spa business.

Speaking to Hotelier Middle East ahead of the event, being held at Grosvenor House Hotel Dubai, Casson said hotels had the potential to increase their earnings from their spa business if they focused on improving the quality of therapists and personalisation of treatments.

“Guests are looking for a therapist who listens to them, has a great technique and is able to explain the benefits of the treatment, this is fundamental. On top of this foundation there is a definite desire for natural and organic as well as treatments that have a more lasting benefit in terms of a cream or oil that can be taken home. We also see great demand for spa suites that bring a social element in and around the actual treatment,” said Casson.

“Stay guest centric in your approach. Live and feel the spa journey through the guests eyes and make sure every point of it is authentic, human and results focused,” he advised.

“In any business sector being the best at what you do in your market is the sure fire way to drive revenues.

We turn over more than US$120m in spa revenues worldwide and so it is a significant part of our business and is only growing,” Casson revealed.

“Areas of focus to drive profitability include retail sales and marketing the low demand periods more effectively,” he added.

Spa professionals are invited to attend the Hotelier Middle East Spa and Wellness Summit free of charge.
