Resort gets together with other hotels to preserve Aqaba beach

Jordan’s InterContinental Aqaba Resort has participated in a beach clean-up activity on the shores of the city of Aqaba as part of a Blue Flag 2013 inititative.

Aqaba is a beach boasting Blue Flag status, which is lined by four big-chain hotel properties.

The eco-label is given to beaches with stringent standards including water quality, safety, environmental education and information and eco management.

IHG says the Aqaba resort team gathered along with employees from other hotels on the shoreline to take part in several activities including snorkeling, diving and cleaning the beach as well as a clean-up operation underwater.

The resort is focused on environmental concerns and has been awarded with both the Blue Flag and Green Key certificates, the latter recognising green hotels with its eco label.
