Treat – the BurJuman World Food Fest – returns this year from May 14-18 2013 with celebrity chef Sanjeev Kapoor making the opening line-up.

The annual food festival which made its debut last September comprises a mix of cooking master classes, demonstrations by celebrity chefs, consumer competitions, food sampling and lots more.

The five-day festival will see foodies able to participate in masterclasses and watch live cooking demos by some of the best chefs in the business from the top hotel groups in the city.

The Dubai Mariott Hotels will give masterclasses and demos on international cuisine, while chefs from Kempinski Hotel & Residences Palm Jumeirah will share their secrets on Italian cuisine.

Chefs from the Radisson Blu Hotel, Dubai Deira Creek, will take guests through a Vietnamese and German menu while the team from the Meliá Dubai will demonstrate the intricacies of Indian cuisine. Masterclasses and demonstrations in Arabic food will be conducted, quite aptly, by chefs from the home-grown Rotana Group.

“Dubai is a food-lover’s paradise and ‘Treat’ celebrates the best of what the city has to offer in terms of variety, quality and culinary creativity in a fun way that lets everyone in on the action. The festival was a huge success last year because it was the very first one of its kind in the city to offer visitors an interactive opportunity to get top-quality instruction from some of the city’s best chefs for free,” says Abbasa Hameed, Marketing Support Manager, BurJuman.

Food-related competitions such as “the fastest potato peeler” will also take place giving visitors the chance to show off their own prowess in the kitchen.

“There’s something fun to learn, taste and try everyday and we are sure the second edition is going to once again have something to appeal to everyone’s taste,” added Hameed.

The food fest will continue with the BurJuman Junior Chef of the Year competition, organised in association with The Emirates Culinary Guild from May 19-25.
