Teenager falls to death from Dubai hotel

The 17-year-old died on arrival at hospital after first-floor fall

A teenage boy died on New Year’s Eve after he fell from the first floor of a Dubai hotel, the Khaleej Times reported.

Dubai Police operation room general department director Brigadier Omer Abdul Aziz Al Shamsi said that on New Year’s Eve a Deira hotel informed police that a 17-year-old boy fell after he lost his footing and was rushed to hospital, but died upon arrival.

The name of the hotel was not disclosed in the report.

Three other people died and hundreds were injured in various accidents over the New Year’s period in the emirate.

Dubai Ambulance Centre director Khalifa Darai said that the centre received 542 calls about injuries and accidents in various parts of Dubai during New Year’s Eve although by and large the celebrations went smoothly for most people.
