Emirates Palace to host first polo tournament
International polo teams will converge in Abu Dhabi for two-day event
Kempinski’s Emirates Palace hotel in Abu Dhabi will hold a polo tournament in its grounds, hosting teams from four cities around the world.
Taking place on November 23 and 24, the event will be held on the custom-built polo lawn, which is one third smaller than a regular polo field, and see 1000 people each day attending the event.
As well as the sport, the weekend will play host to Stella McCartney’s first ever fashion show in the UAE as she unveils her new collection.
Abu Dhabi Tourism and Culture Authority will also hold a cultural display, while a Maserati showroom will offer guests the opportunity to test drive the new Gran Turismo.
Emirates Palace general manager Bugra Berberoglu said: "We are delighted to host the first ‘Polo at the Palace’ tournament. As one of Abu Dhabi’s most traditional, iconic and beautiful landmarks, Emirates Palace is the perfect backdrop for this stylish and exciting event. We look forward to welcoming some of the most influential figures in polo, and showcasing Abu Dhabi’s hospitality and glamour on an international stage.”
The four international polo teams will include Team Abu Dhabi, sponsored by Coutts, Team London, sponsored by Van Cleef & Arpels, Team Milan, sponsored by Maserati, and Team Buenos Aires.
Tickets are priced from AED 1600 (US $436) per person, per day.
