InterContinental Hotels appoints first female AGM for IHG Oman

Anna-Marie Dowling who has more than 27 years’ experience is also the general manager for Intercontinental Muscat

InterContinental Hotels Group has appointed Anna-Marie Dowling as the area general manager for its IHG Oman properties. Dowling who is also the general manager at Intercontinental Muscat, is the first woman to take over the role at the 43-year old property.

With more than 27 years’ experience in the hospitality industry, Dowling has worked in various roles across properties in the UK and the Middle East.

Prior to this role, she worked as the complex general manager at the Westin Bahrain City Centre and Le Méridien Bahrain City Centre. Before her stint in Bahrain, she was the general manager at the Sofitel London Heathrow and the Royal Horseguards.

Dowling, who started her hospitality career with the Holiday Inn in housekeeping said: “I am delighted to join InterContinental Hotels Group. This is an exciting time for InterContinental Muscat and I am pleased to be part of the team that is leading change to this property with the enhancement process that are currently underway. I look forward to working together with the seven IHG hotels in Oman to ensure we reach even higher levels of hospitality.”

She joins the hotel at a time when InterContinental Muscat is going through a multimillion dollar room enhancement process.
