The event aims to promote the domestic tourism industry
The Sharjah Commerce and Tourism Development Authority (SCTDA) has launched a new version of the Sharjah Summer Festival.
The event will run until August 17 2019 and is being held in an effort to promote the emirate as a vacation destination, bolstering economic growth and reviving the domestic tourism industry. The SCTDA has also revealed that the latest edition of the festival is organised with the goal of attracting over 10 million tourists into Sharjah by 2021.
H.E Khalid Jasim Al Midfa, chairman, Sharjah Commerce and Tourism Development Authority said: “The festival’s new edition reflects our keenness to organise events that enhance the emirate's tourism sector and revitalise the economy. It is also part of the ongoing efforts to reinforce the emirate's position as a highly preferred tourist destination. The success of last year's edition of the festival has played a key role in consolidating the emirate's family tourism offerings, which is why we have carefully planned this year's festival to live up to its name as a key magnet for residents, visitors and tourists. In fact, we are proud to announce the participation of Expo Centre Sharjah, which will now give us the advantage of holding more events designed to meet the needs of visitors of all ages.”
The festival will offer family-friendly tourist packages which will include a range of leisure activities such as summer camps, shopping discounts and more. The festival will feature entertainment events along with recreational and cultural activities that will highlight Sharjah’s customs, tourist sites, and landscape. The event will also provide visitors with a range of discounts and at hotels and shopping centers.
The Expo Centre Sharjah will also host the family-oriented Sharjah Fun Fair featuring indoor activities and cultural events across the emirate. Visitors can participate in sports events and games, including several activities arranged for children. Food kiosks and competitions will also be organised.
The participants and sponsors of this year’s festival include Sharjah Investment and Development Authority (Shurooq), FUNN – Sharjah Media Arts For Youth and Children; Sharjah Museums Authority, Environment and Protected Areas Authority, Sharjah Sport Council and more.
