It is hoped the artificial rink will bolster the popularity of the Family Entertainment Centre at Bawadi Mall in Al Ain
Bawadi Mall in Al Ain opens 2000m² skating rink with a capacity to entertain 200 skaters on wheels
The region’s first artificial skating rink covering an area of 2000m² has been opened in Bawadi Mall in Al Ain.
The facility consists of a rink with the capacity to host 200 skaters, services and a spectator area.
Bawadi Mall marketing manager Khalid Shraim said the mall was proud to introduce the new technology to the Middle East.
“These types of rinks are found in France, Switzerland, Germany and Malaysia and the new technology is suitable for metal blade shoes and roller shoes, offering a great experience to both professionals and amateurs,” Shraim said.
He added the rink was part of Bawadi Mall’s strategy to deliver world-class entertainment activity to visitors and higher return on investment.
Furthermore, Shraim said the rink would bolster the popularity of the 10,000m² Family Entertainment Centre, which features a mix of entertainment activities, including a12-lane bowling alley and a food court.
Developed by Nael & Bin Harmal Inv. Co. L.L.C., the mall houses a mix of international as well as regional retail brands of fashion, food and jewellery.
Shraim believed GCC malls competed with the best in the world in terms of infrastructure.
“The malls are not just venues to sell products, but a place where people can relax, unwind and have fun,” he said.
“Healthy competition among malls boosts innovation in attracting customers and tenants. Also, shopping centres are key in boosting tourism.”
