W New York the flagship property of W Hotels will leave the portfolio on April 11, according to news reports. 

USA Today reports that Host Hotels, which had owned the property, sold it to Capstone Development, LLC. That company has contracted Highgate Hotels to manage the hotel. It is unclear whether or not the hotel will remain in the Marriott International family.   

W Hotels is currently searching for a new flagship location in New York, and will remove the W brand from its founding location on Lexington Avenue after 20 years.

The brand has 53 hotels and expects to reach 75 by 2020. W Hotels is also slated to open W Dubai - The Palm later this year.
