Damac Properties has announced that it will open an ultra-luxury five-star hotel in Dubai's Downtown district in June, according to a recent release.

The 305-key Damac Maison Royale The Distinction will have over 52 floors.

The property features a choice of fully serviced deluxe rooms as well as one-, two- and three-bedroom suites that are complemented by a full kitchen, Damac said in a statement, adding that amenities also include a spa and health club.

With its active pipeline for the next five years, real estate developer Damac Properties estimates that its hotel rooms portfolio will comprise approximately 10% of Dubai's supply by 2021, senior vice president Niall McLoughlin revealed during an interview with Hotelier Middle East at the 2017 Arabian Travel Market.

"Within the next 60 days, so by summer 2017, we will have two new hotels opening and will have 2,500 rooms in operation, " McLoughlin said, referring to the opening of Maison Bay's Edge in Dubai's Business Bay district by May 2017 as well as the opening of Maison Royale The Distinction, the group's "ultra luxury five-star hotel", in Downtown Dubai by June 2017.

McLoughlin said: “Dubai has recently reached the 100,000-room mark and has been ranked ninth among the top 10 cities with the largest supply of hotel rooms in the world.

"There is no doubt that Dubai will go from strength to strength as the city continues to develop for the future and attract more tourists to meet the growing supply of hotels. Therefore, investments in the hospitality sector within strategic locations represent one of the cornerstones of this growth.”

Other features of the property include a kids club, 24-hour check-in, personalised services as well as a “no-tipping” policy.

According to the Department of Tourism and Commerce Marketing, Dubai attracted 14.9 million overnight visitors in 2016, registering a 5% increase over 2015, and 8% compound annual growth rate (2012-2016) since the launch of the 2020 tourism strategy.
