Despite an expected drop in RevPAR, Cairo occupancy rates are forecast to be healthy, Colliers revealed in its February report titled The MENA Hotel Forecasts.
Egypt's Red Sea, Dubai, Abu Dhabi, Doha and Beirut led the pack in terms of Guest Experience Index (GEI) for the month of January. Colliers noted that Cairo scored 73 out of 100 in the GEI for February. The report also stated that the highest GEI score in the MENA region was achieved by the United Arab Emirates’ Palm Jumeirah with 88 points.
Sharm El Shaikh however continues to feel the repercussions of negative tourist sentiments but a recovery might be expected in the medium-term.
Saudi Arabia was the largest generator of online reviews in the last month, with around 45,000 entries, while guests from the US were most satisfied with the quality of hotels in MENA, with an average rating of 79.41.
