Ramadan has seen the launch of the UAE’s latest online luxury travel platform, with the Al Makan Travel Collection offering Middle East travellers a choice of 250 worldwide luxury hotels.

According to Al Makan (Arabic for “the place”), the company has spent one year of research selecting independent villas and hotels around the world to join the online platform, with guests who sign up via the Al Makan website receiving exclusive complimentary perks such as room upgrades, complimentary welcome gifts, early check-in, late check-out, spa and food and beverage credits.

Speaking about the launch Al Makan co-founder Carmen Oprea said: “The concept of luxury is completely devalued nowadays as every five or even four star hotel claims to be the ultimate in luxury. With the appearance of online reservation websites, customers are faced with an ever-growing range of hotels and an increasingly complex choice. Al Makan wanted to get back to the basics by offering its customers a carefully selected choice, with limited options for every destination”.

Al Makan claim to be the first online travel platform in the region to offer a unique selection of villas to satisfy large groups and families, in addition to providing access to top presidential suites from Michele Obama's favourite hotel in Spain, to Italian fashion designer Salvatore Ferragamo's Tuscany property

To celebrate the launch Al Makan are offering special Ramadan packages including free stays for children in the Maldives or Seychelles and three weeks for the price of two in Mauritius.
