Colin Montgomerie visited St. Regis Saadiyat Island Resort last week (March 29-31) to hold a two-day golf clinic as part of Starwood’s Preferred Guest Moments.

The hotel promised an overnight stay in an Ocean Suite to anyone who could get a hole-in-one on the par-three sixth hole of the 18-hole course. Montgomerie, who has won a record eight European Tour Order of Merit titles, missed the hole, which separates the property from the ocean, by only a few feet.

The package also included a cocktail reception, two-night stay at the hotel and round of golf on the Gary Player-designed course.

The resort opened in Abu Dhabi on December 26 last year and was the sponsor hotel for the Volvo Ocean Race. It has seven F&B outlets, as well as a 24-hour butler service.
